eleven40seven Fall 2010

Picture
eleven40seven is TCU's undergraduate literary journal of the arts. Student-run, it seeks to showcase student work and aims to promote artistic and creative endeavors that differ drastically from mainstream campus culture. The journal exists to give TCU students a place to express themselves and show off their works of arts. The journal publishes literary prose, poetry, and new media including photography, sculpture, painting, song lyrics, and music pieces.

I was on the eleven40seven staff for the 2010 fall and 2011 spring issues. I was a Prose and Poetry Editor, a Submission Judge, and an Advertiser.  During the fall I worked with a fairly large team and we spread the word around campus, accepted submissions, judged them, then proceeded to work with the design team. I assisted in layout design and organization.

eleven40seven Spring 2011

During the spring, our team was significantly smaller with only six people to create the entire issue. I remained a Prose and Poetry Editor but I worked closely with a design team member to modernize the eleven40seven layout and cover style. As a team we focused on improving the journal's appeal to students. We designed attention capturing advertisements and re-vamped the entire format of the journal including several new elements. We created a journal that had never been done before. As a result we had the largest submission pool eleven40seven has even had since its inception in 2005; 200 pieces of student creative work and art including a music video piece.
